Simple Seared Steak

Ingredients

  • 1 steak
  • 1 Tbsp (15g) vegetable oil
  • 1 Tbsp (15g) unsalted butter
  • 1 Tbsp (15g) kosher salt
  • 1 tsp (3g) fresh cracked black pepper

Directions

  1. Preheat a cast iron pan over medium high heat.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together salt and black pepper until fully incorporated.
  3. Place steak on a wire rack-lined baking tray and season all sides of the steak.
  4. Add vegetable oil to the heated pan and sear for 2-3 minutes per side.
  5. Flip the steak, then add the butter to the pan. Using a large spoon baste the steak with butter for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  6. Transfer the steak back onto a wire rack-lined baking tray and allow to rest for 5-8 minutes.
