- In a medium saucepan, add the cranberries, sugar, 1/2 cup (120 ml) filtered water, and the orange or lemon zest and juice. Stir to combine.
- Heat over medium-high and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes until the cranberries have popped and the liquid has evaporated to create a thick, syrupy sauce (the sauce will also thicken as it cools.).
- Set aside to cool completely then pour into a serving bowl or into an airtight container to store in the fridge until ready to use.
