American Style Grilled Cheese:
- Butter 2 slices of bread.
- Place 1 slice of bread, butter-side-down into a medium, cold pan.
- Top with the American cheese.
- Top with the second slice of bread, butter-side-up.
- Toast over medium heat for 3-6 minutes until golden brown. Flip and repeat to toast on the other side.
- Remove from the pan onto a cutting board. Cut in half and serve.
Sourdough Bread with Three Cheeses:
- Butter 2 slices of bread using about ½ tablespoon (7g) of butter per slice of bread.
- Combine all three cheeses together in a medium bowl.
- Place 1 slice of bread, butter-side-down into a medium, cold pan.
- Pile all of the grated cheese onto the slice of bread in the pan, compressing it into a cheese “patty.”
- Top with the second slice of bread, butter-side-up.
- Toast 5-8 minutes over medium heat until the cheese is just starting to melt. Flip and repeat to toast on the other side until the cheese is fully melted.
- Remove from the pan onto a cutting board. Cut in half and serve.
Caramelized Apple & Brie Grilled Cheese:
- Add the apples, sugar and a pinch of salt to a small saucepan. Toss to combine and allow the apples to sit at room temperature for 20 minutes before bringing to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Reduce the heat to simmer and cook for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until caramelized.
- Butter 2 slices of bread.
- Place 1 slice of bread, butter-side-down into a medium, cold pan.
- Top with a layer of the caramelized apples.
- Then, top the apples with the grated cheddar, pressing down the cheese to form a “patty.” Top the cheddar with a layer of sliced brie.
- Top with the second slice of bread, butter-side-up.
- Toast over medium heat for 5-8 minutes until golden brown. Flip and repeat to toast on the other side.
- Remove from the pan onto a cutting board. Cut in half and serve.
